The International Wine & Food Society is raising a glass to toast Spokane arts champion Sherry Knott, who made an estate gift to support the group's activities. In her lifetime, Sherry established a scholarship for college opera singers, supported local live theater, and devoted countless hours to the Spokane Symphony and Fox Theater. The Spokane Symphony's volunteer organization created an award in her name - the Sherry Knot Patron of the Arts Award. Sherry received the YWCA Woman of Achievement in Arts and Culture award in 2002 and was named Executive Women International's Woman of the Year in 1984-85. She broke through the "glass ceiling" to become one of the first women stockbrokers in Spokane. Now, the International Wine & Food Society- Spokane Branch has established a fund at INWCF. The fund will provide scholarships to culinary arts students at Spokane Community College, specifically to benefit students pursuing oenology - the study of wine and culinary arts.
