The award was announced at the January 21 grand opening of the new Chase Indian Trail branch in north Spokane. So how was Florence Wasmer able to accomplish such a wonderful thing and who did she give to? 

First of all, Florence Wasmer loved music and was very interested in young people receivng a musical education.  She was a violinist and played in the chamber orchestra in the Italian Gardens restaurant in the Davenport Hotel.  Florence was married to Louis Wasmer who brought KHQ radio from Seattle to Spokane in 1925. When Louis died, Florence established the Wasmer Foundation and after Florence's death, the Wasmer Foundation were transferred to INWCF (Inland Northwest Community Foundation).
