Florence Wasmer Fund for Arts & Culture

Florence Wasmer was a student, admirer, advocate and supporter of artistic and cultural endeavors throughout her life. It was her desire that the people of this region always be able to experience the highest quality programs in the arts and humanities. This fund awards grants to organizations and programs whose mission is to further education, enjoyment and awareness of the arts and humanities in the Inland Northwest. Grant amounts typically are between $1,000 and $5,000.

This fund awards grants to organizations and programs whose mission is:
  • To further education in, and enjoyment and awareness of, the arts and humanities in the Inland Northwest.

In general, the Florence Wasmer Fund for Arts and Culture makes one-year grants for the following:
  • Operating support and/or event support for new or existing organizations, if there is evidence that short-term funding can make a difference to the organization.
  • Capacity building support to improve an organization’s long-term ability to serve its constituency and/or increase the quality of its programs.
  • Minor equipment, when it is shown to be critical to an organization’s operational or programmatic capacity.

Highest funding consideration is given to organizations and projects that demonstrate one or more of the following:
  • Quality of the program
  • Artistic merit
  • Relevance to the community served
  • Effective organizational governance
  • Effective organizational and program/project management
  • Sound financial practices
